Live music w/ Jen Trujillo and Kellen Comrie!

As the season turns, The Barnacle is ramping up live music, poetry, spoken word and more at the bar. Jen Trujillo and Kellen Comrie bring their love of the craft together for one unforgettable evening of music.

For Jen, “scatting is utter nonsense… as so many other instruments are when they ride solo, improv, wander.” Her music is curious about THAT. Sure, sometimes it's a bit weird and off, but Jen would rather ride the fun factor wave for better or for worse. She plays covers and originals, vocally driven jazz and rock, but mostly finds footing “in the groove of things.” Jill of all trades, humble in her instrumental “master-of-none,” Jen is excited to continue to be part of the community of music.

KELLEN COMRIE. AGE: 26. DRUMMER. “Airplanes are my ailment and drums are my medicine.” You know him. You love him. Kellen is a longtime drummer who plays in multiple bands as well as teaches. HIS PAST: “I began taking drum lessons at age 10 in Vancouver BC, Canada. I moved to Orcas at 14 with my family and have since had no shortage of musical opportunities and support from this incredible community.” HIS FUTURE: “My passion for flight runs just as deep as my passion for music. I am nearing the end stages of my flight training and will soon be a licensed pilot. If I could have it my way, I’d fly airplanes every day all day, and play drums every night all night.”
